DSC VOLTA REGION LAUNCH 2025
Dreams School of Craft Foundation Launches Second Cohort, Empowering Young Women through Garment Surface Ornamentation Training.
The Dreams School of Craft Foundation (DSC) marked a significant milestone with the launch of its second cohort on Monday, April 14, 2025 at the Zonal Council Forecourt in Gbi-Wegbe, located in the Hohoe Municipality of the Volta Region. This initiative continues the foundation’s mission to train and empower young girls with skills in surface ornamentation, equipping them for employment in the fashion industry.
The launch event began at 9:45 AM and was filled with color and vibrancy, featuring a spirited performance from the Borborbor Cultural Troupe, bringing energy and cultural pride to the occasion.
Present at the launch were several distinguished guests, including Honorable Andy Agbi, Assemblyman for the Gbi-Wegbe Electoral Area, who commended the initiative’s focus on youth and women empowerment. The spiritual blessing and official declaration of the launch were led by Rev. S.K. Adu of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana (EPCG), who prayed for the success and sustainability of the project.
Dr. Clement Asemnrya, the visionary behind the Dreams School of Craft Foundation, addressed the gathering with a heartfelt message. He emphasized the purpose of the foundation stating, “The essence of the foundation is to give you skills that add value to garments. The skill will serve you for life if you stay focused and grow your craft.”
Dr. Vera Yayra Hayibor, a proud native of the land and a strong advocate for women’s development, shared inspiring words drawn from Proverbs 22:29 — “Do you see any truly competent workers? They will serve kings rather than working for ordinary people.” She went on to encourage the participants, saying, “My advice to every woman here today is this: Never underestimate the power of your hands and your mind. What you’re learning is more than a craft—it’s a tool for independence, confidence and change. Stay focused, stay curious and remember that success begins with believing in yourself. The world needs your creativity and your courage.”

In a message of hope and inclusion, Susana Mantey, Director of DSC announced plans to establish a DSC Employment Hub within the locality. She assured young nursing mothers and elderly women in the community that opportunities would soon be created to accommodate their unique needs and provide employment within their own environment.
The event was graced by respected traditional leaders and elders of the community namely; Kubi John (Stool Father), Korkortse John (Asafo), Mankrah Mathias (Fiator), Essah Samuel (Odikro), Senyo Maxwell Aworxo (Secretary), Hayibor Yao (Stool Father), Johnmark Adusu (Regent Dzagbe), Ebenezer Akubia (Stool Father, Danorkpedzi), whose presence signified deep-rooted support for the initiative and its long-term vision for the region.
The successful launch of the second cohort in the Volta Region highlights the growing influence and impact of the Dreams School of Craft Foundation. Through skill development, mentorship and employment pathways, Dreams College of Creative Arts though its Cooperate Social Responsibilities at the DSC Foundation continues to foster creativity, independence and lasting change for young women in Ghana.
