Dreams College of Creative Arts Hosts Vibrant “Me Fri Ghana Soirée” Celebrating Culture, Craft and Creativity

On Friday, 20th June 2025, Dreams College of Creative Arts came alive with culture, colour and creativity at the highly anticipated “Me Fri Ghana Soirée”, an end-of-level 1 project that brought together fashion, heritage and performance in one unforgettable evening.

Held at the Dreams Icon Studio, the event showcased the talents of our Level 1 students who were grouped into four teams, representing some regions of Ghana: Ashanti, Greater Accra, Volta and Northern Ghana. These students were tasked with the challenge of researching their assigned region’s culture, translating that into fashion and bringing it to life through garments, storytelling and traditional performances.

The event begun with an opening prayer and welcome address by Derrick Kegeri, the school’s course counselor, who introduced the evening’s concept and encouraged guests to embrace the creative journey they were about to witness. From there, each group took turns presenting their fashion pieces, walking the runway in garments that told the story of their assigned region. Their presentations were not only judged on visual appeal, but also on their cultural accuracy, craftsmanship and how well they embodied the essence of their assigned region.

The energy was electric as students performed cultural dances and delivered insightful presentations about their regions. Guests were then treated to a regional culinary experience, with meals specially prepared to represent the four featured regions, a true taste of Ghana’s diversity.

A panel of judges evaluated each group, commending their creativity, research depth and execution. The panel included Zenait Issahaku, popularly known as Zee, a content creator and media personality known for her unique lens and storytelling style; Gisela Gagakuma, former Swarovski representative for West Africa, creative director and founder of Giselle Dazzle Jewelry. Together, these judges brought a wealth of experience in fashion adding depth to the assessment process. While all groups impressed with outstanding work and spirit, the Volta Region group emerged as the overall winner. Their seamless blend of illustration, cultural inspiration, textile choices and garment construction gave them a well-deserved edge. The judges noted that while Volta took the lead, every group delivered an excellent performance and as such, no runner-up or loser was named, a true testament to the high standard of all the teams.

The evening came to an end with closing remarks from Susana Mantey, Honcho of Dreams College of Creative Arts who commended the students on their hard work and encouraged them to carry the same passion and discipline into Level 2.

The “Me Fri Ghana Soirée” was more than a showcase, it was a celebration of identity, teamwork and the power of creative storytelling through fashion. It reaffirmed the school’s commitment to nurturing not just designers, but culturally conscious creators ready to make an impact.
